Henry Bethe: 2/20/1944 – 6/7/2015

Henry Bethe

It is with great sadness I report Henry Bethe of Ithaca passed away on Sunday. Henry was a bridge player for over 5 decades, a Grand Life Master with 3 National Tournament wins. He was a past president of our Unit and the Ithaca Bridge Club. He spent time teaching newer and seasoned players the intricacies of the game. He developed numerous modifications to conventions local players would call “the Henry version”. His memory was phenomenal. He could recite hands played weeks before and would know how the cards played out and should have played out. All who played with him or against him will miss his contributions to the game of bridge. Henry was loved by his community for who he was and he will be greatly missed. Unit 112 and The Ithaca Bridge Club will not be the same. He is survived by his mother, sister and son.
