Binghamton Sectional (in Endwell)

Date: 12 Oct 2009 Comments: 0

This past weekend was the Unit 112 Binghamton Sectional.  I attended on Saturday.  The hosts of this tournament did a great job, yet very few unit 112 members from anywhere outside of the Binghamton area were able to appreciate this.  The hospitality was wonderful.  Members from the local area brought home-made goodies for the players to snack on throughout the day.  There was smoked salmon and cream cheese, fresh made cakes, all kinds of crackers, veggies, dips and other snacks.

Before the second session, a trophy and cake were presented to honor the local player (who starts with 0-20 masterpoints) that achieved the greatestnumber of masterpoints during the year.

The Binghamton Sectional is more than just a local tournament.  It provides a forum to honor the achievements of their local players and the local players take pride in the event.  Hopefully next year we will see more faces from around the region – it’s worth the drive.
